What I want from my BIG IDEA!

What do you intend to get out of your project?

I want a project which projects a form of professionalism the project must be collaborative, and work to incorporate a number of skills required by the industry for example understanding the operation of TV studios, Radio, animations, and the virtual room. Equal to this is the importance of the content and its ethical meaning.

I would like to think my project could be based around ethical and humanitarian terms, which relate to people needs and wants. These topics could cover social cultural awareness, environment both urban and rural, sustainability and what it means to the average person in society, why certain things in society are acceptable and others are not.


What are your realistic aims and objectives?

The aim of the project is to inform the user of social and environmental issues. Realistically I am not sure of what is achievable, I have had a look at a recent article which discusses the issues surrounding the concept of graffiti and it seems there are more issues based around the concepts of how and why graffiti is used and what are the penalties of graffiti and how in certain sectors of society; graffiti is viewed in different ways and because of this the artist or vandal depending on how you view the person faces imprisonment.

This project requires a lot of research and because of the subject matter realistically the concepts of the project could change completely. I am already starting to question how I would get the research, how will I approach the right people, how and what does it mean to be a part of this project, why is this project important, will this project make an impact on the people involved and is it important to me that it makes a difference?

Could your idea be marketed and sold?

If the project is successful, there is no question that it could be marketed in the right way and sold. However what I question is the ethics behind this marketing and how would the project be used to benefit its target audience. Adding to this I have heard that O2 is interested in my idea.





Can you test it?

Hopefully the project would be tested during the development stages. I would maybe consider encouraging outsiders to consider what they thought of the project in terms of usability and content.

What are your Worries?

The worries for this project are: fulfilling the technical requirements, arranging the necessary interviews and documentaries, determining the directions of my research in terms of content. When the project is complete will it be a rewarding project both for my self and the user. What questions will this IPTV channel raise?

Who will have ownership over my project idea, the third year that develops the coding or my self or will it is a joint partnership.

What are the resources you need?

I need the use of Abode Photo shop CS3, Sliverlight Web application, TV studios, Radio studios, collaboration with Animation students, and the use of the Virtual studio.

Contacts: through researching I hope to find the relevant contacts to make this project successful. One possible contact could be Giovanna Forte she works on the Save the Shoreditch campaign, she may have contacts that could lead to the necessary areas where I could find people to interview and participate in the project.

A second idea suggested to me by another member of the group was to attend some youth groups within the relevant area, to test peoples attitudes and ideas on the subject and how and if graffiti can be used for to benefit people and there communities or is it some thing that creates bad feeling.


What skills do you have?

I have knowledge of how to interview clients successfully, interactive and conceptual ideas and an ability of the basic technical functions of broadcasting technology.

The team I have so far is James Uren and an undergrad student who will work with the project to help develop the coding aspects of the Website.

What skills do you need to develop or have access to?

I need to develop an understanding of how every one works together as a team and understanding the different software used in order to communicate an idea. I would like to think that my research and reflective thinking will develop to make the content of the project more interesting.
