RSA Reflections
I was first attracted to the idea of working with the Elegant Frugality brief, as it seemed to investigate how people interacted with the environment whilst having breakfast. This interest I had in the brief was partly influenced by my recent thought of making an IPTV channel on Architecture. The reasons being is that though conversations with Architecture student this investigation is curial in the understanding of how the public use space, so natural when an Architect wants to design for the publics needs they will have a more informed view which in effect will make there design more sustained in the public eye.
Referring to the presentation the main aspect of the project was to investigate how food, space and people interact. To find the answers the team including myself put together a questionnaire.
From first glance I thought the questionnaire was basic and questioned how seriously people would take the survey. However I did think that by presenting the above questionnaire people may tend to be more relaxed and inclined to take part. While gathering the information I observed I was the one taking the lead. I enjoyed this part of the survey and yet again it enforced that I am naturally able to get people to engage. However I do critise the way in which the data was collected as we only went to one location, which was indoors in a relaxed café. So naturally I think the result were biast as there were no variations on location. This means that thought-out the questionnaire we already had a set audience as they had chosen to go to this particular café. After this survey the other members of the team continued with the project. If I was to be completely honest I feel my role was limited within the team. I would have liked to be more evolved but when I tried to make suggestions it’s seemed the brief had already been answered and the project was taking a set agenda.
Overall I wish I could have learnt more form this experience, as I feel the gained knowledge would have been useful for my big idea.
