Lit Review Reflection
Research Structure:
Define what good design is:
Typography, graphics, colour theory, layout, Navigations, branding, branding identity, marketing, understanding the audience and there perception of design why are certain websites more popular than others, how do people read the web/TV.
(Also look into mind map’s done with James; questions financial viability, flexibility of content, originality innovations, specificity and community of an idea.)
Question what IPTV is and what it stands for?
Why is IPTV changing the face of broadcasting?
Where will IPTV take broadcasting in the future?
What is sustainability and ecological living?
What is eco-Architecture?
Who are the main practitioners?
What ecological buildings have been created and by who (see Delicious for Websites looked at)
What is the general perception of eco architecture? How realistic is it?
How energy friendly are present building are? (What are there codes)?
Has an IPTV channel been done before for architecture? Would Architect welcome an IPTV channel?
For the above research strategy I have tried to divide it into three areas, firstly the design elements, secondly questions the technology and finally the content. By doing this I feel it makes logical sense at the beginning you learn of design and how this can influence any project, by studying this you also begin to question how different contents immediately change the perception on design. Before moving onto the technology, which enables it to happen. Finally understanding the content gives you justifications for why it will work.
Taken from the lit review I particularly like the work of Faimon, P. (2003) design alliance; Uniting Print + Web design to create a total brand as the author breaks down the ideas of brand identity into a logical structure. The author explains the importance of emotional connections that a brand can have with audience, he also looked towards customer’s behaviors and the company’s visual identity.
Through reading the lit review I am concerned that I have not given equal opportunity to each area to be explained, however while conducting research I found it particularly easy to find the necessary books needed for design. Throughout the lit review I have wanted to try and give a clear insight into area of interest. I feel I have certainly done this with the design elements. Adding to this I wanted to try and create an argument within the work to try and depicted a more analytical approach however the recourses I was finding seemed to say the same as the majority.
