Youth Forums

I spent a few minutes looking at youth forums to get a real idea of what the potential audience find interesting and debate about:

The First one was a little fun, set up by the social network site Facebook clients are able to make there own graffiti. I thought this was a fantastic idea and possibly I could create a similar application.

Inspirational Video!!!!!http://current.com/items/89542215/westside_boyz_skate.htm

One of our PlayCity team mates recently forwarded me a CurrentTV spot about the West Side Skateshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and it really got me excited. Everyone knows that sports build strong communities, and skateboarding is no different. A good local skate shop can bring people together, but because of the Albuquerque law enforcement community's negative images of skateboarding and young Chicanos, the shop, according to skate team members, is under frequent surveillance. It's unfortunate, because a good skate shop can be a meetup place for athletes in the area as well as a place where kids get exposed to positive role models. So many skateboarders have to turn to mail-order or chain stores to participate in skateboarding, and miss out on the community-building that a good shop provides.

On the West Side Skateshop myspace, the owners invite everyone to their business: "Stop by and hang out sometime, everyone is welcome in this club house! so what are you waiting for come hang out." The shop serves a community that is ignored by lots of other outlets, and the owners seem amazingly supportive of all their skaters. Here's hoping that the West Side Boyz can do some successful touring and inspire people in other cities to start taking pride in their communities. Check out their promo video on Youtube and the

(Think how graffiti relates to different sports does it include both genders)
